Landmarks in town include the Grade I listed All Saints Church and a memorial to Sir Godfrey de Foljambe.
There are a number of annual events - The Peak District traditional "well dressing" in June, The Bakewell Agricultural Show, Bakewell Arts Festival and Peak Literary Festival.
