About Taull
Taull is characterized by quaint narrow streets, breathtaking natural beauty, and stone houses with slate roofs and wooden balconies.
Taull, a mountainous town in the Pyrenees in the Catalonian province of Lleida, is situated at a height of approximately 5000 feet in the valley of La Vall de Boi.
Taull is home to the 12th century Church of St. Clement of Taull which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Romanesque style church has an imposing 6-story bell tower and a severe exterior, but the inside contains a collection of important paintings, including the famous Christ Pantocrator. Some of the original paintings have been moved to the Catalan Museum of National Art in Barcelona for conservation.
The Santa Maria de Taull Church is another important Romanesque style landmark whose original structure is thought to date back to the 11th century. It is located above the center of the ancient village and features a 5-story bell tower.
Taull is a great vacation destination for outdoor activities. The town borders part of the Aiguestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park which has many routes that can be explored by foot, horseback, or mountain bike. The GR Trail of the Pyrenees passes through Taull, as well. The Boi Taull Resort is a popular winter ski resort.
On the third weekend in July, the annual Taull Festival takes places with falles (bonfires) and traditional dances.
