About Estoril
Estoril, in the heart of the Portuguese Riviera, is a breathtakingly beautiful town which blends world class resort facilities with Portuguese charm and elegance.
It is home to luxury hotels, stunning beaches, and the famous Casino Estoril – considered the largest casino in Europe. Once a small fishing village, Estoril’s wide, white sandy beaches and hot springs have made it a popular vacation destination for the jet set since the 19th century as well. It is a favored spot for surfers and windsurfers, and it served as home to several 20th century kings who lost their crowns and went into exile, including King Umberto of Italy and King Juan Carlos of Spain.
There are beautiful, manicured gardens in Estoril, elegant villas, and outstanding restaurants and bars. It is also the site of one of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe. The casino, the largest of its kind in Europe, is the place not only for high class gambling until the wee hours of the morning, but also for entertainment – concerts, dancing, and art exhibitions. It said that Casino Estoril served as inspiration for the James Bond character, and for Ian’s Fleming book, Casino Royale.
