Clonakilty is a small town in County Cork, Ireland, located at the head of the tidal Clonakilty Bay and is surrounded by hilly country.
The town is extremely rich in ancient monuments and dwelling places of its early and pre-Celtic settlers
Clonakilty's position as a centre of music, both traditional and contemporary, has helped this small town to become a thriving melting pot of musicians. Bars host live music nights throughout the year and it is possible to find live music on most nights.
Other local attractions are The Model Village in Clonakilty - an excellent way to start a tour of the region, The Blue Flag beach at Inchydoney Island, the Galley Head lighthouse and the Red Strand beach.
