About Szeged
Situated on the Tisza river, this lovely city offers fantastic architecture, great pedestrian areas, and a vibrant atmosphere.
Szeged is the third largest city of Hungary, with the University of Szeged being one of the most distinguished universities in Hungary. The famous Szeged Open Air (Theatre) Festival (first held in 1931) is one of the main attractions, held every summer celebrated as the Day of the City on May 21. The city is situated near the southern border of Hungary, resting on both banks of the Tisza River, and boasting a transitional climate oscillating between oceanic and continental, with cold winters, hot summers, and fairly low precipitation. Its main attractions include the Votive Church, the Reok Palace, theSzeged Synagogue, and the Grof Palace.
