About Kecskemet

Kecskemet is a city in the central part of Hungary. It is the 8th largest city in the country, lying almost equal distance from the two big rivers of the country, the Danube and the Tisza. The first archaeological trace of a human in the area is about five thousand years old. As Kecskemet was situated at an important trading route, it grew as a customhouse and a marketplace. After that it became a major cattle breeding and herding area; and finally, in 19C - an important wine district. Its main sights include City Hall, the Ornamental Palace, and the Hungarian Museum of Photography.
