About Rauma
Established in the 15C, Rauma has deep maritime roots. The city is both historic and modern, with many outdoor activities.
Rauma is a town on the west coast of Finland. It is known for its old wooden architecture of its centre (Old Rauma, Vanha Rauma), which is a Unesco world heritage site. The wooden city centre, which is how large the town was until 1809, has approximately 600 wooden buildings built in the neo-renaissance style.
Rauma is also known for the high quality lace industry, and an annual Lace Week has been arranged in Rauma since 1971. During this week local craftspeople arrange small exhibitions in the Old Rauma area.
