The Last Turf Church of Hof

Like a scene out of fantasy movie, the little Village of Hof is known for its turf houses- houses that were built with turf roofs to protect settlers from bad weather.  Such a building is the Hofskirkja Church, which was the last turf church to be built in this style and is one of six turf churches in Iceland still standing. The churches’ charming exterior and picturesque surrounding will make you want to look for elves and trolls!

Hvitserkur Rock Formations

Hvitserkur is a unique rock that emerges from the ocean and serves as a home to many birds and seals. Located at the north of Iceland this rock is believed to be a troll that forgot to avoid the light and turned into stone, or a dragon that was frozen while drinking. We told you this was fairy land!
