About Timisoara
Known as Romania's most beautiful urban area, Timisoara is home to lovely city squares, gardens, museums, and churches.
TimiSoara is the capital city of Timis County, and the main social, economic and cultural center in western Romania. One of the largest Romanian cities (the third most populous city in the country, as of 2011 census), Timisoara is considered the informal capital city of the historical region of Banat. The city is a candidate to become, in 2021, the European Capital of Culture. The city center largely consists of lovely buildings from the Austrian Empire. Others landmarks include the Timisoara Orthodox Cathedral, St. George's Cathedral, the synagogue, the fortress bastion, and the Millennium Church.
