Belfry of Bruges – Can you Make it to the Top?

Bruges is home to the gorgeous medieval Belfry of Bruges. Visitors enjoy the challenge of hiking up 366 steps to the top. Note that the stairwell is very narrow, and we do not recommend it to people who do not enjoy small spaces. Those who make it all the way up are rewarded with breathtaking views of the city below.

Make sure to pay a visit to Bruges’ famous Groeningemuseum. This iconic art gallery is home to an impressive collection of Flemish Primitive and Renaissance works with masterpieces by Jan van Eyck, Hans Memling, Hugo van der Goes, and Gerard David. In addition to those works, the museum also boats 18th-19th century neoclassical pieces. It is truly a must for all art lovers visiting Bruges.

Belgian Chocolate

When you hear “Belgium,” do you immediately think “chocolate?” I know I do. Learn all about Belgian history of cocoa and chocolate at the interactive Chocolate Museum. There is a chocolate search for children, chocolate-making for all ages, and of course, chocolate eating!

In addition to the gorgeous old architecture, the excellent museums, and the abundance of chocolate, Bruges is also home to many excellent dining options, as well as several pubs and bars. You will not struggle to find delicious food in Bruges, along with amazing beer. You can do entire beer tours of the city! Make sure to sample Bruges local beer, a blonde brew called Brugse Zot.
